The Ultimate 6mm ARC Build

I started this build in a very unorthodox way. I heard the announcement from Hornady about their 6 mm ARC round and I knew right away it was something I wanted to build a rifle around. I had some experience with the BSF barrels as I had built a DPMS AR which was chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, and was superbly accurate. So I called BSF Barrels and asked them if they had any plans to make an AR15 barrel chambered in 6 mm ARC. They told me they actually just started the research and development phase and said they should be ready to ship 6ARC barrels shortly. They told me I would be able to pre-order a barrel and might have to wait up to six months to receive it. So I pre-ordered it and began to shop around for the rest of the parts.

I had been drooling over Radian Weapons receiver sets for some time and knew after I had paid and ordered my carbon fiber BSF barrel, I had to go all out on this build and went shopping on Radian’s website. I ended up choosing a Radian builder set with a 17” handguard and decided to pay the extra money for their “Clandestine DLC” cerakote. I’m really glad I did because I recently learned after meeting some of the Radian guys, they no longer offer this cerakote so I ended up with a rare commodity. I absolutely love how this Cerakote turned out; it looks fantastic from every angle. I ended up waiting 6 months to receive the Radian builder set (which was actually 3-5 months quicker than they estimated). These Radian builder sets are second to none.

The Radian builder set comes with most of the lower parts installed. Their Talon safety selector is by far the nicest and best functioning safety selector on the market right now. It has an option to have a very nice 45° throw.

The lower receiver is also fully ambidextrous with both the magazine release and the bolt stop/release lever on both sides of the receiver.

The Carbon fiber BSF barrel was actually the first part to arrive. After going back and forth in my mind about barrel length, I chose 18 inches. The BSF barrels are thinner profile barrels which are fluted and then wrapped in carbon fiber which adds rigidity. BSF then adds vent holes to the carbon fiber shroud which helps dissipate heat and increase the longevity of the barrel.

I decided to go with a Nemo arms titanium muzzle brake. I really liked the design and love how it was made of titanium which kept the weight down. I also like how the titanium would match the trigger.

It’s hard to see through the handguard but I decided to use a Superlative Arms adjustable gas block. I really love these gas blocks. Their bleed off design is really awesome and the adjustment knob has great detents so you can keep track of the adjustments you are making.

I do not remember which gas tube I used on this build, but it is stainless steel and is rifle length.

I went with a Atlas bipod. I like all of the adjustability of this bipod.

CMC Triggers announced their production of a brand new feature rich BCG designed specifically for the 6 ARC. Their website let me pre-order it, and I did with the promise of a 6 week lead time. I absolutely love this BCG except for the fact I had to wait 11 months to receive it.

I chose a CTS Engineering “Anti-tilt” AF buffer. The CTS buffer has a little ring which protrudes out and fits into the rear of the BCG and locks the two together. CTS has evidence showing this increases accuracy. I waited 11 months to receive this buffer.
I decided to try out the Rise Armament RA-535 trigger on this build, and I am so glad I did. It has become my favorite drop in trigger by far. Rise Armament calls this the Ferrari of triggers and that is 100% accurate. There is zero take up, no creep, a ultra crisp break, and very short reset.

I was lucky to be one of the first to receive the brand new Magpul PRS-Lite (after waiting almost a year) and think for the weight, it is a solid choice. I needed to grind down a part of it to accommodate the qd part of the end plate. And you obviously can’t see it here but I used a sons of liberty gun works A5 buffer tube.

I decided to try out the Arken Optics SH-4 Gen 2 6-24x50. This was my first experience with Arken optics and overall I am very impressed. The glass is clear and the controls are large and positive. My only complaint about the scope is it is heavy.

I really love how this build turned out. It is so fun to shoot and is very accurate. I have only had a chance to sight it in and get the gas system dialed in but my initial impressions were very good. I am looking forward to fine tuning some hand loads and find what ammo this build likes. I foresee this being a sub MOA build.

I bought much of this build through Brownells and you can too! If you use this link it helps me out but doesn’t cost you any extra money;
